Lymington Junction
Lymington Junction
This square is dominated by the junction of three railways, one now disused and converted into a cycle path. In this view, taken from a train on the main Waterloo to Bournemouth line, shows the Lymington branch line heading off across the heathland on the far side of the B3055 road. The train from which this picture was taken was the "Southern Belle", a special train to commemorate the last of the old slam door electric trains. This was probably the first, and almost certainly the last, train to run from one extreme of the Southern electrified network, Ramsgate, to the other, Weymouth, and back.
