It was manufactured by Harrison, McGregor and Co of Albion Ironworks in Leigh. Henry Harrison and Alexander McGregor formed a partnership in 1872 and their Albion harvesting machines were one of the leading brands in Britain during the late 19th and early 20th century. The first Albion implements they produced were mowing machines and in 1894 reapers and binders were added to the product range. The firm also made barn machinery such as oat crushers, root and chaff cutters and feed mills. Potato harvesters and planters were later additions to the range. By 1914 their workforce amounted to 1000 employees. (Source: Grace's Guide - the leading source of historical information on industry and manufacturing in the UK.) This picture was taken at the Fritton Plant Nursery > Link where a number of old farm implements are on display.
