SU1070 : Beech-tree roots at Avebury

taken 7 years ago, near to Avebury, Wiltshire, England

Beech-tree roots at Avebury
Beech-tree roots at Avebury
Growing on the bank of the henge at its eastern entrance.

The little lane that passes through at this point leads up to Fyfield Down. On some maps it is identified as the Herepath - which sounds to me like an old Saxon name for a military road.
