Mercantile Chambers at 39-69 Bothwell Street is a Category A Listed LinkExternal link Art Nouveau style building, designed by architect James Salmon Jnr LinkExternal link in 1897-98. It features many sculptures by Francis Derwent Wood LinkExternal link who also worked on the nearby Kelvingrove Museum & Art Gallery.

The first floor has a frieze with raised lettering showing "Trees grow, birds fly, fish swim, bells ring", which is a reference to the City of Glasgow Coat of Arms. The second floor has sculpted figures showing 'prosperity', 'prudence' and 'industry'.

The building was refurbished in 2013 and houses a diverse range of businesses.
