Steaming away from Hellifield
A charter train setting off from Hellifield station behind a steam locomotive on its way to Carlisle.

The trains rusting in a siding to the left are former Royal Mail parcels units.
The Dalesman (charter train)
West Coast Railways operate a summer charter train service between York and Carlisle, called the Dalesman. It is diesel hauled as far as Hellifield (provided with watering facilities for steam locomotives) then steam hauled over the Settle-Carlisle line.
