Wall butterfly (Lasiommata megera)
Wall butterfly (Lasiommata megera)
Although this butterfly is still widely distributed it has declined substantially in many inland areas of central England and Northern Ireland during the last decade. It can be seen in open grassland, on dunes and other coastal habitats, as well as disused quarries, derelict land, farm tracks, railway embankments and cuttings, gardens and field edges, basking on walls, rocks, and stones.
