Ruin at Buckham's Walls
Ruin at Buckham's Walls
Wedder Hill rises behind. The highest standing part of the ruin is part of the gable end of a porch on the south side of the single storey building. Old photos show that the entrance doorway was formerly on the east side of the porch (facing the camera).

The earliest reference to the building is in 1686 but the ruin is of much more recent origin. It was well-built, of mortared andesite rubble with squared sandstone to reinforce the corners, doors and windows. On the 1901 Census, 10 people lived here: David and Margaret Wilson, their 6 children (aged 6 to 19), a 16 year old niece and 81 year old boarder. The last occupants were John Little from Hounam and his wife, Margaret, both 60 years old in 1940.

The east third of the building was latterly a byre and had a blocked fireplace and concrete floor. There was a scullery or parlour to the rear.
