Warwick Gates is a large residential estate whose development began in the late 1980s. The farmland site in the Heathcote area south of Royal Leamington Spa was favourably located for the M40 motorway, whose planned extension from Oxford towards Birmingham was built between 1989 and 1991. All the roads on the estate are named after characters from Shakespeare's plays, Leamington and Warwick being in the orbit of Stratford-upon-Avon.
