SE4891 : Signs of former quarrying

Signs of former quarrying
Signs of former quarrying
A small, largely grassed over former limestone quarry in the foreground. I was looking for evidence of a lime kiln, as shown on 19thC maps, but there was no trace of such a structure. In the distance are the far more extensive Kepwick limestone quarries, which were of an industrial scale.
