Office Block 2 (OB2) has finally fallen victim to the vandals who appear to have had free rein over the site since IBM pulled out in early 2016 following a 61 year presence here.

Built in 1977, OB2 was home to the IBM Finance and IS (IT) departments for most of its working life. It stands separately from most of the other buildings in the main cluster on the campus, but is connected to them by an underground tunnel. It was possible to walk around 1500m from here to the extreme end of Module 5 NS2273 : Modules 4 & 5 without going outdoors.

Demolition of all the buildings on site is in progress or is scheduled. Inverclyde Council’s preferred option for the redevelopment of the 56 hectare site is to earmark half of the land for housing, around a third for business and industrial uses and the rest for recreation, leisure, tourism and neighbourhood retail.
