NS4181 : Turnoff to the landfill site

taken 7 years ago, near to Auchencarroch, West Dunbartonshire, Scotland

Turnoff to the landfill site
Turnoff to the landfill site
Auchincarroch Road continues straight ahead; it is part of a route known as the Horseshoe. Industrial vehicles heading to the landfill site turn right here.

The pavement alongside Auchincarroch Road extends from the foot of the road (NS3980 : Auchincarroch Road) up to this point. It is necessary on that section because of the heavy vehicles that travel up and down that part of the road much of the time.

Although there is no pavement beyond this point, pedestrian access to the rest of Auchincarroch Road is not a problem: see NS4081 : Auchincarroch Road for comments.

On the left, but hidden by a hedge, is the start of a footpath to the Haldane: NS4181 : Footpath to Dumbain Crescent / NS4181 : Footpath to the Haldane.

To the right of the photographer's position, and out of shot, is a house called Blairvault.

For the landfill site itself, see NS4181 : Auchencarroch Landfill Site. For a view partway up the road leading to it, see NS4181 : Road to Auchencarroch Landfill Site.
