Belgrave Hall, Belgrave Village, Leicester
These two pillars at the far end of "The Hall's" garden previously formed part of a main (gated) entrance/exit to Prattle Hill (now Loughborough Road), i.e. where the urn now stands was part of the public highway until 1826. The pedestal and urn form the Holdsworth Memorial. This Grade II-listed memorial - c.1760 - by Richard Hayward, commemorates the English classical scholar Edward Holdsworth (1684 -1746). It originally stood in the grounds of Gopsall Hall, Leicestershire.
