NT2955 : Old quarry, Upperside

taken 7 years ago, 4 km SW of Temple, Midlothian, Scotland

Old quarry, Upperside
Old quarry, Upperside
Site of a small quarry surrounded by a plantation and probably a former landfill site.

Several small quarries in the area are shown on the 1854 OS 6" Edinburghshire sheet 18, marked as limestone quarries and presumably used to feed the limekilns a short distance south of the road junction.
