SJ1977 : Basingwerk Abbey
near to Greenfield, Flintshire/Sir y Fflint, Great Britain

Basingwerk Abbey
This was founded in 1131 and became a Cistercian abbey in 1147. It closed with the dissolution of the monasteries in 1536. For more info see Link
Nowadays, it is prettily bordered by the garden flowers of the nearby cafe. There is also a visitor centre and a community farm. They are all part of the Greenfield Valley heritage trail. Apparently this area has more national monument heritage sites than anywhere else in Wales, see Link
