18th August 2004, Glen Ogle. I was getting ready to walk up Meall Buidhe
NN5727 after a heavy thunderstorm had hopefully cleared the air. However fresh dark clouds were gathering and I changed my mind. An hour later the road was blocked by two landslides after the second storm had dropped a lot of rainfall on already saturated hills. At the same time the bridge here was damaged when flood water washed out a bank above Edinample falls. This closed the road along the south shore of Loch Earn. A year later, the bridge is not repaired, and there is little sign that it will be.
NB A handwritten sign at the road end implies that this is now a private road and that there is no right of access. Ignore it, it's rubbish. There are some folk who wish to keep this lovely corner of Perthshire to themselves. There are parking and turning places, and this is still a good place to start the walk up Ben Vorlich
NN6218. Those wishing to use the standard route, from Ardvorlich
NN6323 should drive in from St Fillans at the east of Loch Earn.
