Swindon and Cricklade Railway, Hayes Knoll (8)
Passengers await the train to take them back to Blunsdon station a little less than a kilometre away south of the viewpoint. The character in the hat is dressed as a 'spiv' (black marketeer) as the railway is playing host to a 'wartime weekend' focused on the second world war. Spivs exploited wartime shortages by evading the rationing system and selling stuff that had 'fallen off the back of a lorry' at inflated prices. The line was, once upon a time, part of the Midland and South Western Junction railway.
