Farewell to Trent Bridge
Farewell to Trent Bridge
The Nottinghamshire and England wicketkeeper-batsman Chris Read (No 7) waves his cap to acknowledge applause at the end of his last match at Trent Bridge and is about to pass a guard of honour formed of Notts and Worcestershire players and staff on his way into the pavilion. His teammates and the two umpires applaud from the outfield. Read has played for Notts for twenty years, been captain since 2008 and will retire at the end of the 2017 season, after the last two County Championship matches, at Northampton and Hove.

(Worcestershire had rather spoiled the occasion by winning the match by 8 wickets - the Division 2 leaders' first Championship defeat of the season, and a thoroughly deserved one.)
