Radford: reminders of Alan Sillitoe
Radford: reminders of Alan Sillitoe
Radford was the birthplace of Alan Sillitoe, author of "Saturday Night and Sunday Morning" (set in Radford), "The Loneliness of the Long-distance Runner" and many other novels and short stories. On the right are the Sillitoe Court student flats, part of the Raleigh Park development. On the corner of Faraday Road is The White Horse (no longer a pub), where Albert Finney, playing Arthur Seaton, is seen falling down the stairs in the film of "Saturday Night and Sunday Morning", much of which was filmed on location hereabouts.
