Inside the lamp at Kinnaird Head Old Light
The pair of Fresnel lenses would rotate every thirty seconds on a roller bearing track driven by a clockwork mechanism with weights hanging the height of the tower. The lighthouse keepers would re-wind the mechanism every hour or so throughout the hours of darkness. The paraffin lamp vents to the exterior via a bell mouth chimney. The lighthouse was replaced with a smaller automated lighthouse in 1991.
There was a short-lived University in Fraserburgh at the start of the 17th century. A commemorative plaque is said to be on the wall of the Alexandra Hotel at the corner of Denmark Street with the High Street NJ994671. A photo of the hotel/plaque would be of interest.
