Under Meadow Lane Bridge
Under Meadow Lane Bridge
Patterns of light and shade on a sunny end-of-summer morning. The first section of the Nottingham Canal, from the Trent to the city, opened in 1792. Bridge No 1 was the original Meadow Lane bridge, later superseded by Bridge 1d, which carries the wider carriageway of the modern road. The steel piling supports London Road, also much widened in the 19th and 20th centuries.
