The colours of the plants' flowers range from white to violet > LinkExternal link. This crop serves as so-called green manure. Green manures are plants which grow quickly and are sown to cover bare soil. Their roots prevent soil erosion, and when ploughed into the ground while still green, the plants return valuable nutrients to the soil and also improve soil structure.
