East Hatley: deconsecrated church
East Hatley: deconsecrated church
The last service was in 1959 and by 2002 the deconsecrated church was covered, according to the nearby information board, by "a stupendous overgrowth of ivy" which had caused considerable damage to the structure. The roof and walls (but not the interior) were restored from 2003-6 and the building is kept closed. The churchyard is still consecrated, and the whole site a nature reserve. TL2850 : East Hatley, St Denys shows work in progress in 2004.
