Ancient stone stile at Priddy
There are many different designs of stone stile in the UK, of which very few if any meet current British Standards. This is one of several at Priddy which incorporate a vertical stone slab in the centre which is just low enough to climb over. More of this type can be found in the Cotswolds.
Other types have narrow V-shaped gaps known as 'squeeze stiles' or incorporate a set of stone steps up each side of the wall.
