Street lighting, Mercia Way, Warwick
Street lighting on residential roads is turned off for a few hours each night. The County Council's Highways people have installed all-night LED lighting at junctions and in cul-de-sacs. The light is cold, white, and very bright. Nearest, third nearest and furthest on the left are LED; the light is directed straight down, though glare obscures that in the photo. The other three lamps are dinky low-pressure sodium on classic concrete columns. Time: just before 5pm on a mid-January afternoon.
