A downed admiral
A poor Red Admiral butterfly (Vanessa atalanta) has come to a sad end, probably a victim of an encounter with a passing vehicle in Compton Martin - see ST5357 : The Street, Compton Martin. The poor flyer has become a source of benefit for the many red ants (Myrmica sp.) that have swarmed over the butterfly to make good use of the demise.
