Little Salkeld Flour Mill - stone floor
Little Salkeld Flour Mill - stone floor
This is a commercially working mill producing various grades of flour from wheat. There is a single pair of working French burr stones that are seen here with the associated stone furniture. An electrically driven auger fills the hopper. The worm wheel on the wall operates the sluices feeding the overshot wheel turning the stones. The vertical chain is for the sack hoist. The mill was working and we bought some organic flour produced there.
