Little Salkeld Mill - disused winnower
This was driven by the smaller of the mill's two wheels and was used to clean the grain by sieves and a current of air to blow away the lighter waste. However, the grain now comes to the mill in a cleaned state ready for milling. The winnower is now bypassed by spout from above and an electrically driven auger bringing material from below.
