Boulby Potash Mine
Boulby Potash Mine
A huge mine, the second deepest of any sort of mine in Europe, extending to 1400 metres below ground level, and including 1000 km of underground roads extending out under the sea. In addition to the production of potash and rock salt, the mine houses the Boulby Underground Laboratory by virtue of its great depth. Experiments include the search for "dark matter'. For details, see NZ7618 : No WIMPS here - entrance to Boulby Mine.
