St Mary's Church at St Mary in the Marsh
St Mary's Church at St Mary in the Marsh is best-known as the burial place of Edith Nesbit, author of The Railway Children who died here in 1924 at the age of 60. Her grave of wood is to be found in the churchyard. For more about Edith Nesbit see LinkExternal link

John Newman in Pevsner's The Buildings of England: West Kent and The Weald describes St Mary's as "Very much in the marsh... The church is a delight, almost unrestored, yet fresh and neat within and without. Chancel, nave, and separately gabled aisles, south porch, west tower. The tower is Norman for its full height."
