The Church of St. Mary the Virgin is a grade II*(star) listed building, with a rebuilt 15th century tower. Most of the rest of the church has been rebuilt at various times, the latest in 1917 to repair damage from a Zeppelin raid - see TL2708 : Essendon church - 1917 commemoration stone for rebuilding after Zeppelin raid.
