SP5174 : Local train at Rugby Central station
near to Rugby, Warwickshire, Great Britain

Local train at Rugby Central station
Rugby Central was on the Great Central Railway - Britain's first high speed rail line. This photo was taken early in September 1966, just before services between Rugby and London were withdrawn and the line torn up. The three coach local train is waiting for an express train to come into the platform. When the express has passed, the local will back on to the main line and draw forward to the platform. Above and to the left of the heads of the people on the platform it is just possible to see the water tank from which the steam locomotives would have filled their tanks.
