The trams into Shudehill travel down Nicholas Croft past Basil Chambers named after Basil David who from 1963 to 1990 operated various companies from this building. Among them was Holmes Terry & Co. Each floor of the building had a different department. The 1st Floor was Towels & Sheeting, 2nd Floor Hosiery & Underwear, 3rd Floor Shoes & Outerwear, 4th Floor Clothing, 5th Floor Canteen & 6th Floor Building/General Repairs etc, and the basement was the packing area.
