The motorway at Trowell was constructed in the mid 1960s and often caused hold-ups for traffic on the main road between Nottingham and Ilkeston. (I know - I was there!) The services to the north of this road opened as Mecca Village in 1967 and were sold to Granada ten years later. The current owner is Moto. For more trivia about Motorway Services see Link
