TG2707 : Whitlingham Sewage Treatment Works
taken 19 years ago, near to Postwick, Norfolk, England
Whitlingham Sewage Treatment Works
It deals with the dirty water from a population of 250,000 in the greater Norwich area and outlying villages. The works today are a far cry from the original sewage farm that was opened after a cholera epidemic in 1830. Then, sewage was pumped to the Kirby Hills and allowed to percolate down through the land and into the river!
Access from south via
TG2706 : Anglia Water private road to Whitlingham, in the foreground can be seen the end of this road; a locked gate out of shot to the left prevents vehicular access through to Trowse.
