V2797 : Blasket view
5 km from Dun Chaoin, Kerry, Ireland

Blasket view
Looking over the village and An Tráigh Bhán, the white beach, to Beiginis (small island) a kilometre or so away. See the other image in this square for information about the village. Great Blasket is now uninhabited, but it is still used for sheep grazing by farmers from the mainland; Beiginis was once inhabited but has been deserted (also except for sheep, probably) since longer than Great Blasket. Its lack of shelter presumably contributed to the population's decision to leave.
