Fathom Forest from the Flagstaff Viewpoint

The hills bounding the Newry River estuary are composed of ancient granites which weather to give thin acidic soils which support in the main heathery heathland and forest. The city of Newry can be seen at the head of the estuary.

The track on the left is on the Northeast Adventure 4x4 off road driving range.
