Perry Barr Lock No 10
The Tame Valley Canal was a relatively late addition to the Midlands canal network, opening in 1844 to relieve congestion at Farmer’s Bridge Locks. It has long straight sections made possible by cuttings and embankments and has a reputation for being rather dull for boaters, especially at the western end. A flight of 13 locks at Perry Barr raises the canal up from Salford Junction after which it has a connection with the Rushall Canal before continuing to Tame Valley Junction where it meets the Walsall Canal.
