The track leading to Swim Coots drainage mill is private, but permission for access will be granted when sought. The mill stands by a dyke on the shore of Hickling Broad, at the end of a long track through marshy reed beds. Sections of this track, which is also frequented by the herd of Welsh Ponies that is kept in the Nature Reserve, are very swampy.
