Hello there!
Hello there!
A herd of Koniks (all geldings) is kept in the Hickling Broad National Nature Reserve to help maintain the natural environment of the broad. Only when the water level rises very high during the winter months the horses are moved to higher ground. Koniks originate from Poland. They are self-reliant wetland specialists that are proving to be a great boost for the ecology of the area in that they love to graze on weeds, reeds and grass, thus helping to stimulate wildlife diversity in their fenland habitat.
