The Category A-listed Clark Memorial Church was opened in June 1892, the gift of Mr. John Clark of the Anchor Thread Mills in Paisley, who had his summer residence at Curling Hall, Largs. It was designed by William Kerr under T G Abercrombie of Paisley.

St John's was built as a Free Church in 1843 and named St Johns in 1900 after union with the Free and United Presbyterian Churches. Designed by A J Graham, the building is in the Romanesque style with the tall tower at the north-west corner and vestry to the south-west linked by an arcaded narthex.
