This Grade 2 listed statue was made in 1854 by the sculptor CC Adams and can be seen at the Norwich cathedral's Upper Close. The bronze life-size statue depicts Wellington in civilian dress with a canon resting at his feet. The granite plinth it stands on is inscribed with his name and coat of arms. Arthur Wellesley, the 1st Duke of Wellington (1769–1852) was an Anglo-Irish soldier and statesman and one of the leading military and political figures of 19th-century Britain. He served twice as Prime Minister and defeated of Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. For a more detailed view of the plaque affixed to the plinth see > Link.
