Great Western Railway 28xx class goods locomotive no 2857 is 100 years old this year and to celebrate the Severn Valley Railway held a 'Goods Gala' at which 2857 ran throughout the day with a train of traditional loose-coupled wagons, recreating an everyday sight and sound of 60 years ago and more. The old girl looked magnificent, seen here pausing at Hampton Loade, running tender first. A few lucky souls were able to ride in the Toad brake van, next to the engine, but the few available tickets sold quickly.
