The concrete storage structure for stop-planks and the little building on the non towpath side of the lock are extra features (SJ6542 : Lockside Building, by Audlem Lock No 4, Cheshire). There is another such building by Lock No 15 (SJ6543 : Lockside Building, Audlem Bottom Lock, Cheshire) . Was it for storage, or just a Victorian lock keeper's spare loo?
