Ryefield, Durford, West Sussex
The Petersfield to Midhurst Branch Line crossed the middle of this field curving slightly north. Beyond is Ryefield farm. On 15 June 1937 the 10:22 from Petersfield to Midhurst derailed on the curve. The train ripped up 100 yards of track and tore up many of the Canadian pine sleepers. The engine ended up its side but the single carriage remained upright. Neither driver, fireman or the three passengers were hurt.
