NY8027 : Grain Beck, almost dry

taken 6 years ago, near to Maize Beck [water Feature], Cumbria, Great Britain

Grain Beck, almost dry
Grain Beck, almost dry
The width across which Grain Beck can flow is indicated by the extent of the stream's stony bed, but following an extended dry spell the flow is down to a trickle. The footbridge, (not really needed under these conditions), carries The Pennine Way near to Birkdale Farm which is out of the image to the right. Grain Gill originates on the slopes of Meldon Hill, the upland area behind the footbridge.
