Tracks to the Trenches - German interloper
At the Apedale Valley Light Railway operated by the Moseley Railway Trust. An event to remember the centenary of World War I and the use of railways in the field to supply men and material. There were British built locomotives, a US locomotive and a replica French locomotive. All appropriate to the Allied side of the battlefield. This beast is however a 'Brigadelok' 0-8-0T built by Henschel in 1918. Almost 2500 of these were built and used in the field by the Germans. Perhaps this example has been captured and put to work moving the 18 pounder quick firing gun it is seen paired with. This locomotive is usually to be seen at the North Gloucestershire Railway at Toddington.
