Footpath in the Hardwick Estate
The photograph shows a footpath in the Hardwick Estate and was taken from a viewpoint at a crossroads of estate paths.
Ahead (easterly) the footpath originally connected to the old main drive to Hardwick Hall just beyond the gate in this photograph, SK4764 : An Autumnal Stroll. However, a number of paths in the estate have been upgraded and, although the old route is still passable, the footpath now joins the drive at a point adjacent to SK4664 : Lady Spencer’s Walk.
Behind the viewpoint the path drops down through woodland in the direction of Stainsby Mill.
To the left and right the path is crossed by a bridleway. To the left (north-easterly) the bridleway continues on toward Ault Hucknall. To the right (south-westerly) the bridleway continues toward the park entrance by the visitor centre.
