The church of St John the Baptist is commonly known as the Cathedral of the Peak it replaced an earlier small Norman church. Built between 1320 and 1400, with some delays caused by the Black Death, there are two main styles: the nave, aisles and transepts are in late gothic style, and both the chancel and tower are in perpendicular style. The church was restored in 1873 and contains some fine monuments. Listed, grade I, with details at: LinkExternal link
