NY1716 : Alluvial plain

taken 13 years ago, near to Buttermere, Cumbria, Great Britain

Alluvial plain
Alluvial plain
Once Buttermere and Crummock Water were one lake. Stones and silt washed down by the becks have built up a plain of dry land separating the lake into two. This forms relatively good farmland. Seen from the road just east of Buttermere at NY179166
