Penshaw All Saints [NZ329539] is the burial place of one James Drummond (1712-1782). As a renegade Jacobite pretender to the Earldom of Perth, he lived out his life in anonymity in Biddick following the Battle of Culloden (1745). He married a pitman' daughter and earned a living as a ferryman on the River Wear. His grandson was eventually (1831) recognised as the legitimate heir to the Earldom. [Murray's Handbook:1890].
